Bamboo is often called the "miracle fabric," and for good reason. It offers a unique combination of luxury, performance, and deep respect for the planet. Here is why we’ve used it at Muse since 2008: Unrivaled Comfort: Bamboo fabric is incredibly soft—often compared to silk or cashmere. It has a beautiful drape that flatters the body without clinging. Breathable & Moisture-Wicking: It naturally regulates your body temperature, keeping you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. It wicks moisture away from the skin, making it perfect for year-round wear in the BC climate. Kind to Sensitive Skin: Naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, bamboo resists odors and won't irritate those with skin sensitivities. Earth-Friendly & Sustainable: Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth. It requires no pesticides, very little water, and absorbs more carbon dioxide than equivalent tree groves. Low Maintenance, High Durability: Our bamboo cotton blend is resistant to wrinkles and pilling. It’s a "slow fashion" staple designed to stay in your wardrobe for years, significantly lowering your cost per wear.

Bamboo clothing can be dried in a dryer, but it’s best to follow specific care instructions to maintain its quality and longevity. To prevent potential shrinkage and preserve the fabric's softness, use a low-heat or tumble dry setting. Overheating can damage the fibres and affect the garment's fit and feel. For the best results, consider air-drying bamboo clothing by laying it flat on a clean, dry surface. This method helps retain the fabric's natural properties and prolongs the life of your bamboo apparel. Our bamboo garments have a 30 percent cotton content giving them the strength of cotton, so that your bamboo apparel stays like new, year after year.

While regular cotton is a classic staple, our premium bamboo cotton blend offers several significant advantages in terms of comfort, performance, and environmental impact. The Muse Advantage: Standard cotton often loses its "new" feel after a dozen washes. By blending bamboo with cotton, we create a fabric that retains its incredible softness and shape for years. This is a key reason why Muse garments offer such a low cost per wear—they are built to outlast traditional cotton basics while providing a much more luxurious, "silk-like" experience.

While many brands mass-produce overseas, Muse by Laura Lye is a legacy BC brand (established in 2008) that prioritizes local craftsmanship and intentional design. Here is what sets us apart: Locally Made in Salmon Arm, BC: Every garment is sewn by skilled local women in our Salmon Arm community. We are 100% Canadian-made and have never manufactured outside of British Columbia. The Power of Bamboo Cotton: We use a premium blend of 30% cotton and 70% bamboo. This specific ratio gives our clothing the strength and durability of cotton combined with the buttery softness, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties of bamboo. A Commitment to Living Wages: Unlike fast-fashion retailers, we pay our local sewers a Canadian living wage. When you buy from Muse, you are investing in fair labor practices and the livelihoods of local families. Investment-Grade Quality: Our pieces are designed for a low cost per wear. Because of our high-quality sourcing and meticulous construction, Muse garments are known to last over a decade, maintaining their shape and softness wash after wash. Timeless, Feminine Design: Founded by Laura Lye with a background in color and shape analysis, our designs aren't based on passing trends. We create classic, elegant silhouettes that celebrate a woman’s natural grace at every stage of life.

To maintain softness and longevity, we recommend washing your bamboo garments in cold water on a gentle cycle and laying them flat to dry. Avoid harsh detergents and bleach.

Yes—bamboo is one of nature’s most effective performance fabrics. At Muse, we use a premium bamboo cotton blend specifically because of its "thermoregulating" abilities, which keep you comfortable regardless of the season or your internal temperature. How it works: Breathable Micro-Gaps: On a microscopic level, bamboo fibers are filled with tiny holes or "micro-gaps." These allow for much better ventilation and moisture absorption than synthetic fabrics or even 100% cotton. Keeps You Cool in Summer: When you're warm, the fabric wicks moisture (sweat) away from your skin and evaporates it quickly into the air, creating a natural cooling effect. Keeps You Cozy in Winter: Because of its cross-section structure, bamboo acts as a natural insulator. In cooler weather, it traps a layer of warm air close to your skin, providing warmth without the bulk. Perfect for Transitions: This makes Muse clothing ideal for the fluctuating temperatures of British Columbia, as well as for women experiencing hot flashes or night sweats. By choosing Muse, you’re choosing a smart fabric that adapts to your body's needs, providing all-day comfort from the morning chill to the afternoon sun.

Colour analysis is the science of finding the specific shades that harmonize with your unique biology—your skin’s undertone, the depth of your eye color, and the natural pigment in your hair. By identifying your "seasonal palette," we take the guesswork out of getting dressed. How it transforms your style: Instant Radiance: The right colors act like a natural filter, minimizing shadows, brightening your complexion, and making your eyes pop. The wrong colors can often make us look tired or washed out. A Harmonious Wardrobe: When you shop within your palette, everything in your closet starts to work together. This makes mixing, matching, and layering effortless. Confidence in Every Purchase: Understanding your colors means you stop buying items that sit in your closet with the tags on. You’ll know exactly which Muse shades will make you feel vibrant and confident the moment you put them on. Sustainable Shopping: By only buying what truly flatters you, you reduce waste and build a curated collection of "forever pieces."

Absolutely. In fact, many of our long-time customers call Muse their "travel uniform." Because we use a high-quality bamboo cotton blend, our pieces are designed to handle the rigors of the road while keeping you looking polished. Why Muse is the perfect travel companion: Natural Wrinkle Resistance: Unlike linen or 100% cotton, our bamboo blend naturally resists deep creasing. Simply hang your garments up upon arrival, and most wrinkles will fall out overnight. Odour Resistance: Bamboo’s natural antibacterial properties mean your clothes stay fresher for longer. This allows you to pack lighter and wash less frequently during your trip. Temperature Regulation: Whether you are on a chilly airplane or exploring a humid climate, bamboo breathes and regulates your body temperature, keeping you comfortable in changing environments. Space-Saving Versatility: Our timeless designs are meant to be dressed up or down. A single Muse top can take you from a morning hike in the Shuswap to a high-end dinner in the city. Easy Care: If you do need to wash your pieces while traveling, they are durable and quick-drying, making them much easier to manage than delicate "dry clean only" items. Whether you're exploring British Columbia or heading overseas, Muse provides the comfort and elegance that makes traveling effortless.
